Imperial Forum avatar

Looking for a pic to convert into the avatar for the Imperial forum. It will be visible on the main forum page. I'd like something that says "IMPERIAL." Suggestions are welcome.

The avatar should convey an imperial theme but should also entice the Third Reich collectors who dominate this forum to explore this area of collecting.

The images of the Kaiser and the German soldier and the Pickelhaube are fine, but this Imperial Forum includes discussions about awards of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the other allies of the Central Powers... not just Germany. The avatar should, therefore, be more inclusive. Why not use an image of the event that started the whole bloody conflict that brought an end to the Imperial Period...

That's a great choice GRB and I also thought it would be quite appropriate... UNTIL I saw the size of the forum-avatars. They are about 3/8 inch x 3/8 inch... a bit larger than a credit card chip. The 4 faces would be indistinguishable.

A square shaped plaque depicting the coats-of-arms of the Central Powers might be more visible as a tiny avatar than would faces.

It may be a cliche. But, I think it's also a no brainer. This forum is predominantly about orders and decorations and the avatar should reflect that. So, it should either be a PLM or an EK1 because they are commonly recognized.

I like the pickelhaube idea but I think that it would be better suited for the Imperial Headgear forum.
I guess my 2nd choice would be the one of the Kaiser that was posted above or maybe something
as simple as one of the Flags.

EK is already used as the avatar for one of the TR forums, granted its a TR EK, but you can't tell that from the thumbnail.

Greg, I am proposing one for the uniform section with a WWI soldier with Pickelhaube and Feldgrau tunic.

Imperial Forum includes discussions about awards of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and the other allies of the Central Powers... not just Germany. The avatar should, therefore, be more inclusive.

Austro-Hungarian militaria is posted from time to time, not so much Ottoman unless its the Gallipoli star, and I almost never see Bulgarian content, and those are all the central powers. However, this forum is primarily concerned with the German Empire, and the avatar should reflect as much. Or else you'll start seeing a heck of a lot of non-german content. The e-stand reflects this, there is often Russian Empire militaria under the "Imperial" e-stand when it should be under the "International" e-stand.
