Prussian Order of the Crown 4th Class w/Swords

Hi all, what are everyone's thoughts on this medal? The seller says it is a jeweler's copy that is not hallmarked anywhere. Based on what I can see the swords are a separate piece, so that isn't a red flag. Otherwise, I would like to know what others think before I make an offer. Thank you all in advance!

It's true that "Wearer's copies" of obsolete awards were produced by jewelers and various other manufacturers after the war. They were produced in varying levels of quality, but the cross you're showing on the pictures is not a what I would call a high-end copy in my honest opinion. Personally, I would use a cross like this one to replace a KO4X missing from a medal bar assembled during the Weimar era (but NOT on a medal bar from the imperial era.)

If you're looking for a nice example of a KOX4 to display by itself or as an investment, you may want to wait until you get an opportunity to acquire a period-issued, die-stamped cross.

      Thanks for the response!

I figured this one was a Weimar production piece.

Hearing that it is a lower-end piece I’ll probably pass on this and wait for a period-issued one. I’ve seen them sold in the $400-500 range, which isn’t overly expensive in the grand scheme of things.

      Thanks again!
