Document Grouping to an Inspector of the Air Service

    Hello,

I'm posting this document grouping for a friend who's a forum member here, but he's not very computer savy as far as figuring out how to post photos here.

I look forward to any comments and thoughts you care to share.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Great looking grouping.
Everything looks clear and legible yet the yellowing to the docs and pictures
really makes you feel the age and history of the pieces.

Nice group, was this guy originally a pilot or observer?

Good question. I don't know, and I was talking about that with my friend Jim yesterday, who owns the group. He picked it up decades ago, and doesn't know. The pilot is not shown in the photo of the observers. I can ask him if there is an ID on the back of either photo, but I am guessing there is no ID on the backside of the 2-photos.

You might be able to get more info on this guy over at the aerodrome forum.

Nice group of a member of the Air service but not an inspector neither a pilot or observer.
He was an Schirrmeister what is not an rank more a position.
He was responsible for the cars within an Armee-Flug-Park and after the war with in the inspection of the air service.

              Kind regards
              Alex

Thank you for the information of him being responsible for the cars, what bothers my is why would he be awarded the Iron Cross 2nd and 1st Class for looking after cars?
