PLM winner question.

I have a prayer card for a Kaiser or Kaifer Karl von Osterreich died in April 1922. His photo shows him wearing his PLM with oak leaves. I don't have any books on PLM winners and was wondering if anyone knew anything about him. Thanks in advance! Mike

Not a son...a nephew!

Karl, Emperor of Austria-Hungary 1916-18, son of Franz Josef.

Tom, Karl was Franz Josef's -nephew-, not his son. Franz Ferdinand the previous heir apparent to Franz Josef, was also a nephew. Franz Josef had no legitimate sons in line for the throne.

Just as an aside, the empress Zita, wife of Karl, lived to very old age and died only a few years ago.
