Hessian Warrior Badge in Iron - A real rare picture

I've "borrowed" this pic from an Ebay auction some days ago. This is just the second picture I've ever seen of someone wearing this very rare badge:

This guy is also decorated with the EKII, EKI, Hessian Bravery Medal and a Landwehr Long Service Medal. Below is a pic of one of my "Kriegerehrenzeichen in Eisen" which was the highest WWI award of Hessen. It could only be awarded to a hessian soldier who got the EK, was wounded, was decorated with the Bravery Medal and qualified more than a second time for the Bravery Medal, was a long time at the front and was born in Hessen and ever lived there. Just 2000 of these were awarded, most of them made from zinc and blackened iron. The "25" means that this award was instutited during the 25. jubilee of Ernst Ludwigs reign.

      rare badge

      Hello,

Yeps I had my eye also on this auction => did you win it ?, it was indeed a very inetresting piece of History and for once it was offered togheter with the otehr medals as I remember + the " Kriegsehrenzeichen im Eisen "

Hopefully the new owner will appreciate it and take care for it very well => a rare and undervalued award IMHO .

Thanks for showing it once again

This set used to be mine. Scans made by me and shared by the new owner. The rather large mini is silver--

Hey, it's starting to look like each individual one was made to personal order! We may be going for a "Turkish War Medal Record" number of varieties!!

Yes but since you got yours for less than an EK1 1914, I'd say you came out ahead!

Hey Carl-- you're not an "investor" are you? (See Stogie-Rick's thread in Association Members Only!)
