Can you give us non German speakers some idea of the content of this discussion?

Pics don't work without being a site member either, so if this is a serious discovery and not just 'someone found an +M+ in a R&N packet', could you post some of their pics too...

    danke

Of course. They discuss an austrian made EKII 1914 on trifold ribbon and with case from Rothe & Neffe. I asked the collector about any marks on the EK and I got these pictures which clearly show the strange "+M+" mark. Of course this isn't a 100% proof that the cross is also from Rothe, but it should be austrian made. Here are the pics:

...and the cross and case weren't married post WWI why not? Any positive discovery on these weird EKII markings is great, but are you absolutely sure?

However, I suppose the trifold and Austrian case are more than just a coincidence. Makes sense...

this rothe u. neffe case/trifold combo is rare, but not
                unusual.

does anyone else have this case with a +M+ maker
                mark?

it's an interesting supposition, but for now, i think that's
                all it can be.

i DO hope there are more out there. uncovering a MM ID
would be another small piece of the puzzle.
