    3 medal bar with clasps

    hello collectors,
i hope someone of you can help me.
my question is about a medal bar with the the prussian military merit medal in silver (Krieger Verdienst), the friedrich auguste medal in bronze on the peace-ribbon!!!!! and the south-west-africa medal with the clasps HERERO-LAND, ONGANJIRA and GROSS-NAMALAND.
is there a possibility for finding out the owner or the unit or anythink about it. i know it's not a long medalbar on which you can say clearly how the owner is.
    i'm happy over any informations.

and my other question is, know someone of you a book or books in which i can read something about the fights in colonial terretory where clasps issued for and perhaps a guide to them.

    best regards christian

That sounds like a VERY nice medal bar!

The first one would be the Prussian Militärehrenzeichen, I think, not the Kriegerverdienstmedaille. The MEZ would be considerably larger than the Saxon medal.

Hereroland was a general "area" bar for operations 1904-05, "Gross-Namaland" the same for 1905-06.

The action at Onganjira took place 8 May 1904, with 800 German and 160 Askari members of the Schutztruppen-- of whom 14 Germans were killed and 12 were wounded. I have no other data.

Enlisted men can almost never be traced.

I have a couple of pages xeroxed from the Official History of the 1904-1906 War with the dates and areas of actions.

I have many Strange And Obscure reference sources, including the casualty rolls for the 1900-1901 Boxer Uprising in China. I am a "packrat" for information!

          Hi Christian,

try to get the 2 old OMM magazines about the China war and the Südwestafrika war. Both are full of information.

          Best regards

          Daniel

Ask some dealers, if they still have some in stock.
If You can´t find I can make You copies. Lesser quality but better than nothing.

              Beste Grüße
              Daniel
