Yesterday, I received this photo, of an officer with two awards:

Prussian Crown Order 4th class, and

Your officer appears to be wearing the pre-war uniform of a pioneer or other verkehrstruppen prior to 1914 (mobilization). Inf. Regt. Nr. 94 from Sachsen-Weimar was part of the XI Armee Korps. I don't know if this is too much of a stretch, but the only pioneer unit for this army corps was Kurhessisches Pioneer-Batl. Nr. 11. Can you distinguish the numbers on the banjo boards?

I have checked my ranklists for 1901 forward for the Pion Batt 11 and can't find a match on the medals.

Even a blind chicken can find a kernel sometime...I think I found him in my 1912 Rangliste. Lt. Meyer of Magdeburgisches Pioneer Bataillon Nr. 4, commissioned on September 17, 1906. It appears he was a graduate of the Militartechnische Akademie in Berlin and was awarded the Crown Order 4th class and the White Falcon, Knights Cross 2nd class.

Looks like he survived the war and was demobbed as a Hauptman aD.
