    A brave Saxon junior officer.

    Here is a very nice bar to a Saxon who started out as an officer candidate and progressed through WWI as a junior officer most likely in the 13th Jager Battalion. Probably recycled as a Hauptman for WWII and logged some more combat time. Research continues...

        Why specifically 13th Jäger? Saxony had 6 Jäger-Bataillone: JB 12, JB 13, RJB 12, RJB 13, RJB 25 and RJB 26...

          ...... the Reuss/Saxony connection is almost exclusively to the one regiment.

            Thanks, Rick. Your alleged "evil twin" notes further that the Prince of Reuss was the honory colonel of the 13JB and was known to be quite liberal with awards to this unit both in peacetime and wartime.
