    Bavarian ribbon-bar with Beamten-MVK!!!

I've got this one from Uwe Bretzendorfer. A very nice bavarian ribbon-bar with the following awards (sewn in South-German style):

    EKII 1914
Bavarian Military Merit Cross with the rare "Beamten"-ribbon
    FKK
Austrian war-ribbon, maybe Bravery Medal or Iron Merit Cross
    Prussian Long Service
    Bavarian Long Service

This is the first ribbon-bar with a "Beamten"-MVK-ribbon I've ever seen in real.

I've got a few-- a very few--scattered around here in previous threads.

Per Erhard Roth's WWI rolls published by Michael Autengruber (as complete as we are ever going to get)

        MVO4X (the "normal" ribbon)-- 24,141
        MVO4X "war merit" ribbon--..........544
        MVO4 "war merit" ribbon,no Xs--...170

        MVO4X wCrown "normal" --.........3,042
        MVO4XwC "war merit"--.................112
        MVO4 noXs wCrown "Wm"--.............37* (* +1 to 36 he lists)

Now, no way to tell what class yours is, since often the ribbons don't have any swords at all. I would not take the absence of sword on a ribbon bar to mean that the ful size award didn't have swords. There is no Luitpold Jubilee Medal ribbon on there, which with the Long Service ribbon would imply a senior NCO with service after 1911. But--

figure the same PROPORTION of awards for the "war merit" ribbon compared to the normal front line one for all the classes of the MVKs, as well as the MVOs above....

yup, they do not show up often at all.

          Hi Jens,

You just snapped this bar away......I ordered some time too late. But I´m happy it found a good new home. Congratulations to that rare find!

          Beste Grüße

          Daniel

Sorry Daniel, but it HAS found a good new home

Rick, do think it is a MVK or a MVO?

I think definitely some grade of MVK, because there is a Bavarian Long Service but no 1905/11 Jubilee Medal, and no officer could have had a long service without one of the Jubilees (the Reserve-Landwehr medal wasn't given after 1914, only the XX Cross and the grades of long service awards for regulars). So a MVK3X or MVK2X on that "Kriegsverdienst" ribbon.

Oh how I hope for the "rest" of the Bavarian awards from Herr Autengruber!!!

                            Werner,

Very nice medal bars. Especially the MVK 3. mit Krone... I've never seen it before!

                            Ciao,
