    Order of the Red Eagle 4th Class by J Godet & Sohn Berlin

    Cover clear out continues to unearth some nice items.

    Here is a very nice Order of the Red Eagle 4th Class stamped JG&S for J Godet & Sohn Berlin as awarded to Company level officers.

    The tri-fold ribbon is in the Austro-Hungarian style but I understand that these were not awarded to KuK officers so I'm guessing the trip-fold was used by some German states too.

    Surplus to requirements so will be listed if it doesn't go earlier

    Certainly these were awarded to Austrians, and the ribbon, which by the way is the real prize here, is clearly Austrian and not Saxon.

      Very nice, I always admired the red eagle enamel painting. Yours seems very detailed and well made. If you have time could you post a close-up of the medallion?

        Vince - that's interesting. I had assumed that it was from on of the German states. I have a small collection of Austro-Hungarian medals. I'd better add it. Now to find an picture of one in wear by a KuK officer.
