Hey guys, I’m happy to show my newest find here, a private purchase A-H pilot badge from this specific type - “SMALL EAGLE, ROUNDER WREATH AND LARGE, RED ACORNS”!
With the exception of the gold badge of Otto Jindra, this is the only other war time original that I know of.
About the badge - die struck, sharp details, individually enameled leafs and other details, the wreath is highly convex - doesn’t show well in the photo, the hardware is original - despite the discoloration around the hinge and catch.
If you have an original badge of this type, please post it here (by “original” of this type, I mean a pre 1945 made badge), we know there are plenty of post 1945 produced badges, commemorative pieces, some by known makers, some plain recent FAKES!
I know that Austro - Hungarian pilot’s badges are not too popular here, but I couldn’t help my self, I’m so excited!
Enjoy the nice comparison shot with a regular issue pilot badge of the period!
As always, any and all opinions and comments welcome, if you have badges of this type please post them here!
