      So the missing medal is definitely a Crown Order 4.

      With respect to the 1870 EK2 - it is a period copy for use on a buckle? I'm learning the correct terminology - Spangenstück. What was the reason for placing a copy on the buckle rather than the original medal?

        James, many 'wearer's copies' appear on medal bars, I have one from the 1880's with several period copies. Sometimes the recipient had more than one medal bar and needed extra copies, or perhaps the original medals were lost. Other times the awarded pieces were kept aside as mementos and were never mounted.
