    One of the heaviest and rarest EK II 1914.

    The search for this cross took me about 4 years. A Petz & Lorenz.....for me one of the rarest crosses in the world. When I weighed it I was surprised by the weight .....31,5 gram!

                I know there are two variations, in zinc and this one....I believe it is silver plated tombak, but I am not quite sure?

                        31 gms. Wow, that is a really heavyweight.
                        With the small ring, I assume that it came off a medalbar. Depending on the
                        other medals, just think how heavy that bar must have been.

                          Thank you Greg......indeed a real heavyweight. A normal EK II 1914 weighs around 17-18 gr. An one piece Schickle weighs around 22 gr.

                          The ones I've seen all had a small ring. So indeed I also presume they are made for a medalbar.

                              It’s interesting given the lengths that the official items exhibited in the effort to combine quality materials (as available) with light weight but not at the cost of strength, that a heavy cross worn on a medal bar, which were heavy enough with three pieces forget 4-8! Maybe the market was not so great and hence few are found.
