ID on Bavarian (?) Uniform

This photograph popped up elsewhere online, and I was wondering if anyone might be able to help ID the uniform. The medal bar looks Bavarian, but the collar tabs and the plate on the helmet have thrown me for a loop.

I think they are Police collar tabs,

Yes. This is indeed a Bavarian Policeman in the photo. I am not certain of the age of the photo, but it is after 1918. My guess would be that it was taken in the 1920's. A very nice photo. Congratulations!
