I just got back from a visit to the Bavarian History Museum in Regensburg and found that among its exhibits is another splendid example of a WW I nail figure, the "Eiserne Ratisbona" ["Iron Ratisbona"], a female figure symbolically representing the city. (Ratisbona is the city's Celtic, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese name.)
The robe of the figure is adorned with the coat-of-arms of Regensburg (two crossed keys) overlaid with an Iron Cross. She is holding two wreaths with inscriptions in their centers that translate as "FAITHFULNESS IN THE FIELD DEFIES DEATH, 1914" and "FAITFHULNESS AT HOME RESISTS PRIVATION, 1915".
