    Sachsen inf. Rgt. Stein good?

    I made this to be a fine early original that looks all hand-painted - but then heard it's a replica and that angled d-shaped handle w/dots wasn't seen 'till 1950. you guys say...? thanks for the eyes-on.

    Nice original 1899 Saxon stein

    Saxon steins are harder to find. Not sure if the Pewter lid/ thumb-lift is a replacement or not ? It is a correct civilian stein lid for 1899 but usually military steins from the 1880's can have civilian lids. By 1899, military steins had specially designed military Pewter lids and thumb-lifts. However, I have not seen that many 1899 Saxon steins to know for sure. A Saxon stein from the 1890's is a rare find,

        chris and others - following up, I thought the royal 10th / 134th was garrisoned at plauen, not leipzig which is 100 miles from there... did HQs change at some point with overlap?
