These don't indicate an EK1, they are just a WEIRD "fashion statement." Extremely popular in Saxony well into the 1930s.
I suspect they MAY have slid into Naughty Usage before the war ended-- they were certainly around by early in 1919, and not just in Saxony. I've got a photo of an ordinary private from near Hamburg wearing one in 1919 (it's too crappy to scan though).
There was no point to these! What is especially WEIRD is that those Saxons should have held on so tenaciously to this superfluous emblem, while never getting around to anything USEFUL which would have distinguished their two Friedrich August MJedals, or the St henry Order and its two medals, each worn on plain "same" ribbons!

Got another one with a bavarian MVK 1 w/X and crown. Interesting EK which shows the back and seems to be some kind of lapel-pin which was changed to work as a ribbon-device.Attached Files

Yes, the 1813 is strange. Maybe the owner hasn't found another device?!? Any opinions about the MVK? Should be a 1st class.

Hi Jens,
the EK device is odd!
The Bavarian can easily be a MVK 3 with crown and swords. People loved to "upgrade" their stuff with a bit more gold instead of the unspectacular bronce. For a MVK 1st (Feldwebelleutnant level) I would expect a bit more on that bar ( long service award......jubilee....)
Best regards
Daniel
