Thank you very much Uwe for your answer.

Do you have a picture of such a dagger? For me, it is completely unknown what kind of dagger it could be.

I suspect it might be something like this Reichswehr-Schutzen-Jaeger Rgt. presentation dagger.

          Hi,

a "Degen" is not a dagger, it is called Épée (or "small sword").

These weapons, as examples, are "Degen":

An 'honor' epee seems a strange award for a Freikorps fighter. So, he most likely was in the regular army as the Reichswehr was heavily involved in border defense.

                Maybe this helps:
The soldier served in the Reserve Infantry Regiment 211, which in the file was also called the Volunteer Regiment "Fischer". So obviously a regular regiment, which fought within the Freikorps.

And to complete this thread, my friend Lutz asked me to post this interesting document from his collection.

                        Very nice document.

Is that "our friend" Lutz or another Lutz?

Heh, I was wondering why this degen is so scarce if it was awarded at least 388 times (see the number on award list).
Looks like I have an answer
Here is another one, of the same kind but with different type of engravings.
So it seems that only award list and degen were awarded, and all these writings were ordered by awardee on his own account, which in most cases never happened.
