not Johanniter. These come in silver and gilt and are considered by many to be higher quality, private purchase "Deutschritter-Kreuz" for Detachment von Randow. I believe this. But, there's no definitive evidence. Some have suggested they could just be for some fraternal order as the black Maltese cross was a popular emblem for masons, student groups and a couple of paramilitary organizations such as the Jung-Deutschen-Orden.
