This is an interesting early (I suspect between wars) plaque which was advertised as a WWI German Cavalryman Veterans Plaque.
This plaque in unusual in many ways. It is cast or forged out of iron (magnetic) in great detail and depth; uncommon for German plaques. The “horse shoe” is nailed to the wood backing. The aging is consistent on all details of the plaque and the cross has a swastika giving the impression this was a unit or veterans plaque produced in the early stages of the NSDAP rather than during or immediately after WWI.
The wood is 13.5 cm x 17 cm.
The metal is 9 cm x 10 cm.
No visible maker marks, signatures or documentation other that the tag taped to the back.
