    Interesting Stahlhelm Gorget

    Hi Gents,
got this nice Gorget and like to show it to you. There are no maker on it and no indication which unit it used.

I think these were fairly generic, standard gorget used by all Stahlhelm districts. I believe there should be a leather backing.

The gorget looks okay, in spite of the lack of detail for the symbol and
the chain-parts. The eagle, flags and wreath should have much more
detail. The tops for the flags lack most of the details, as observed with
various others. The second (middle) top right should be a "Lyra". I do
not see a Lyra here. Also the helmet lacks detail.
Personally I would not have bought the shown gorget!

It is anyway a variation form. The official form, introduced in about 1925,
does have a crowned eagle above the wreath and steel helmet (official
price-list "Der Stahlhof" from about 1929/1930 and the "Führerhandbuch"
from 1925). The chain used, was not so fancy anymore!

Most found gorgets, during research for my gorget-book, did not have a
backing at all, but occasionally one finds them with a great leather backing.
I did observe quite some at the "old" Stahlhelm-archive in the years 1980-
      1985 and in later years.

Okay. I cannot show images here at WAF, otherwise I would have shown you the difference in quality!
The actual photo is in "Ringkragen und Brustschilder im Dritten Reich" (published by VDM) in 2012.
