I believe this one is genuine, if genuine examples even exist. IMO, the only ones that stand a chance are those that like yours are oxidized bronze finish and have this particular hardware style.

But, these are controversial badges as there are a lot of fakes and no photo exists of the badge actually being worn, nor is there any information about the badge or the unit.

In von Salomon's 1937 book on The Freikorps, he only shows a drawing of this badge. As a result, some early collectors of Freikorps conjectured that the badge was only proposed, but never issued and that the many examples that exist are either fakes based on the drawing, or sample strikes made, but never used.

If the latter idea is correct, then yours is likely one of the sample strikes or an issue badge if they were in fact worn.
