It should be posted in the Freikorps / Weimar Forum.

But, anyway, it's a common fake, sometimes marked Deschler Muenchen. There are lots of fakes of this badge and very few real ones on the market. The front of the fakes is often more elaborate than originals with black enamel on the cross and in the 'Wolf' cartouche as on yours. On originals only the the cross is colored in black lacquer, only, not enamel.

The only maker for this badge was Max Reich, Breslau.

Thank you, it was in an auction along with some other questionable items that all sold. I guess somebody did a little artificial ageing and evidentially the sellers a crook. Luckily I didn’t bid. Thanks again for your help.
