    1919 Stahlhelm Mitgliedstarte - Magdeburg

Attached is what I believe to be an authorization card for the Stahlhelm badge. Please let me know if I am correct in this assertion. The card appears to be issued to member #17 from the Magdeburg area.

If this is the case the name on the card does not match the name I have for #17 from the Magdeburg area.

No. It's not for the 1934 enameled badge. It is a membership ID for the Magdeburg Regional Group (Bezirksgruppe Magdeburg) for the year 1919. These were renewed annually. It's rather scarce as it's so early. His membership card number wouldn't necessarily sync up with the membership badge issued in 1934.

The card gave him permission to wear the helmet lapel and cap pin. Although, I believe the early badges were plain without "Der Stahlhelm" on them.

      Thanks for the response!

So this was issued to him in 1919 as a member of the Magedeburg group. He would have received another one in 1920, another in 1921 etc. as long as he was a member in Mageburg (correct?).

Yes. one for every year he paid his dues. Are there places for year stamps to be pasted on the reverse?

          The reverse is blank.

So, he would have been given a new card every year.

              Thanks.

I was told by another member that stamps would be affixed to his Mitgliedsbuch each year dues were paid.
