I forgot to mention that, while the sew-on badge is the general SSOS badge (Selbstschutz-Oberschlesien), the armband has not been identified.

The yellow over black refers to Austrian/Czech Silesia (South-east Silesia). Therefore, the armband was likely worn by a specific Selbstschutz Bataillon from this district within the SSOS in 1921.

Brian is right, you would normally expect yellow and white, Silesia's colours.

This armband is shown in Haarcke's book as unidentified. My guess is that it may have been worn by German SSOS forces who aided the Austrian Kärntner Freikorps fighting against the Czechs.
