    Rossbach Cross 2nd Class

Here is a very rare award, the Rossbach 2nd Class. established by Oberleutnant Rossbach during the Silesian campaigns in 1921. The 2nd class is estimated as only having been awarded 500 times. The 1st class was initially awarded for combat service but was later given for peace time activities. The 2nd class was awarded for non combatant activity and later was also awarded for peace time activities.

The Rossbach Freikorps consisted of about 1000 men who fought in the Baltic, Ruhr and Silesia.

very nice piece. much scarcer than the 1st class because Rossbach gave out the 1st class willy-nilly in later life as a kind of gift of appreciation to friends.

        Thanks for the comment.

Yes, I have heard that the 1st class is more common.
