Oak leaf -> Freikorps or Jaeger?

Hi is this a Freikorps or a Jaeger kragenabzeichen?

    Thanks,
    Michel

There seem to be a couple sizes too.

I actually think the large one was worn on the side of the cap.

I think you may be right Brian.

The device will fit on various sized tunic collars but its slightly larger size is an awkward fit.

Its about the same size as a cap edelweiss... perhaps a photo comparison of the two is in order, just for kicks.

I've never seen one. It's just a theory. But, I've never seen these collars in wear either. I'm still looking for a photo.

                    Hi Brian,
Any more info on it? I've heard only about one FK badge with oakleaves worn on the side of the cap-Treue Abzeichen/Landesjaegerkorps. But it did look different according to Klietmann.

No. It's one of those ideas that's been around for 40 years without any photographic evidence to support it. It was Verkuilen Ager's assumption based on the the distinctively larger oakleaf that only ever showed up as a "left side" version of the smaller collar badges. Edelweiss and Jäger devices were worn on the left side of the cap. So, he assumed that this badge served the same purpose. I've always tended to agree with this. But, as in the case of a lot Freikorps information, there's a gap in the historical record.
I keep looking for a postcard to show up. But, so far I haven't seen one.
