I came across this photo and was wondering what kind of branch this fellow is representing?

I think he is no German, no Freikorps.....he could be from Austria.

Austrian WWI Kreigerbund. He wears the veteran's badge on his hat: a hand holding up a sword surrounded by a wreath. The sword is entwined with a sprig of oakleaves.
I would guess from the hat that he's some sort of motorman for a motorized unit of the vet organization.

Yes, looks like the badge from the Austrian Frontkriegerbund.
