Didn't it sell for over 350 Euro?

Interesting. I'm not a document guy but... anyone save a picture?

Did you buy this doc? Quite rare. But, IMO, I still think that 300+ EUR might be pushing beyond the limit for this doc in the current market, despite there only being about 3000 awarded.

I went up to about 270 EUR and I thought that was pushing it.

Thanks for posting that photo Sergeant 08. Neat document... but not the most interesting design, is it?

When will be there a next chance to get such a document? Tomorrow? Next week? Next year?

I don't think so. But who knows?

True. But, so many other interesting things can be had for the money that one piece of paper cost. Also, it's been my experience in 50+ years of collecting that eventually most things show up again. Some things just take longer than others.

                      That's true.

But I have to add, sometimes you have only one chance in your life.

Very true... and what an item is worth to you is what's important

That is the ultimate truth, of course.

Never mind me. I'm just one of those old miserable codgers who remembers when nobody wanted this stuff and I could get the scarcest stuff for a pittance and worse, sold it all for what was still a comparative bargain 20 years ago. It's a cliche of course to say, "Oh, what I used to have..."

There was another rare document in an auction today. Expensive price again. It was for the Kommandeur der rückwertigen Teile der Eisernen Division.

Yes. 356 EUR. Given the man's rank, the price would probably be ok, except for one thing. This is actually from a broken group. When I realized this, I stopped bidding.

The man was an Oberstleutnant and received several orders and decorations including the Hohenzollern House Order, Wurttemburg Order of Military Merit with Swords, Order of Friedrich II class with Swords, Crown Order with Swords and Baden Order of the Zahringen Lion with Swords.

Personally, I wouldn't want a single document, even one as scarce as this, knowing that the missing award documents from this group were sold separately by the seller and are out there somewhere in someone else's collection.

The seller has a couple more documents to this man for sale, including his service record. I wonder what other material from this group he has that he'll put out for sale in the future.

I've said it before and will say it again. Any seller who breaks up a group in order to make more money, simply out of greed with a total disregard for history is a scumbag.
