I didn't see this board before. But, you're right. He sold some of the other items before (like the Truppen Ausweiss). I do have the impression that he uses his friends to bid. So, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the items appear again.

I have already paid for this. Hopefully he won't do something dodgy with the sale.

This Marine and GKSD board sold for well over 300 euro last time, which didnt surprise me... strange that its all come up for sale again. I wasnt aware of them being up more than once though.

I missed it by accident, you did get it for a steal! I did however win the GKSD and commemorative badge auction.. (finding a second GKSD will be interesting). It is disappointing to know the group was broken up.

The same lack of respect to history happens everywhere unfortunately, we see this same thing happening on WAF by low brow collectors. Hell, I found an old suitcase with a couple sets of WW2 6th Marine uniforms, with M17 helmet inside pitched into the trash. I tried to return it to the family (they were clearing their dads house out) since it had to have been a mistake, but the daughter couldnt be bothered with it.

The KPK badge is for the Königliche Preußische Kadettenkorps worn by officer cadets at The Royal Prussian Cadet School in Groß-Lichterfelde, Berlin, one of the 4 training academies for the German officer corps. It's not a Freikorps badge.

Freiherr von Kleydorff was a cadet there when the war ended and before he joined the GKSD. I presume that both badges are his. The GKSD badge is a variation of the 2nd type. I have a single of the same badge. The black background is not how it should be. So, I wonder if someone painted it.

His badges, photos etc. were on one board , before it was splitted by the seller.

Thanks for the clarifying the left hand badge Brian. My initial guess is that it wasnt FK, but more of a commemorative piece.... officer training makes sense. I couldnt find any significant history of Prussia during the year 1717, but now the dates make sense.

Perhaps von Kleydorff painted the badge so the helmet detail would stand out more in the display? Who knows. In Haarckes book it lists three variants of the badge... it seems plausible that there were different versions for EM and officers?

Really is a shame the photos are not available.

Serg08 - can you point me to his thread on the other board?

Sorry, I have no link to the other board.

Ok... and unfortunately the ebay listing before the group was broken up is no longer available. Would have been nice to grab the photo's that could have possibly been Freiherr von Kleydorff. Should anyone have those images saved, please let me know.

                  I'll contact the seller...

Already posted before, another favourite in 2014. A Matrosenmütze of the Roter Frontkämpferbund "Rote Marine".

Until today I have never seen another one!

Here's a copy of the Truppen Ausweiss and a photo of von Kleydorff in Berlin.

                        Damn, thanks Brian!
I try to save images for reference but there are so many I tend to get behind. When these groups came up for sale I placed bids, but either the seller got greedy with his shill bidders, or someone went nuts and ultimately couldnt follow through. At roughly 700 Euro for both, thats just stupid.

Is it possible to have a collection of favorites?
2014 has been a very good collecting year, won a bunch and also lost out too... we cant win 'em all.

                        Sorry about the crummy photo!
