This was offered recently on auction- thoughts? The Umlauts are odd.

It could be ok. ÿ is a Dutch representation of the letters ij. So, his name could have actually been Baijroth and he could have been Dutch-German. When they filled out the document, they likely misread his name as Bayroth without the umlaut.
