I just got this 1st Class colonial Lowenorden and the detail is great but I just noticed it had a very pointed needle pin with a regular "c" catch instead of the more elaborate (and apparently more common) "safety pin catch" (for lack of a better name)...
Seeing how safer the other catch device seems to be are both variations original/period ? and, if so, could the "safety pin catch" be a corrective measure to the regular "C" catch which came first or are both just varitions from different makers?
Thanks for your help
