Unknown Visor ?

Hi Guys,

I was looking at this cap, but can't figure out what period, it looks early. I don't have photos of sweat diamond which is mostly missing, but an address in dresden still shows, anyone know what this cap is for? I did put it in the Imperial and third reich sections, but no answers.

It looks a little bit like caps which were used by members of the Jungdeutscher Orden. They used different kinds of caps, but I think the official caps had a black cap band, white piping and a green top. But JDO caps had chin straps and the green was not such a dark green, the color was more like a field grey.

I saw one of your other posting with a photo, some of these caps look darker and have no straps. Hope you don't mind me posting your photo.

It was not anusual in the Weimar period, that members of the same organization had different headgear, in different colors (when they came from different regions for example).

Recently I found a photo of JDO musicians from Thüringen. All members wore JDO insignia, but all had very different caps in different colors.

Maybe the cap looks a little but too green and modern fashioned (not as cap from the mid-1920's), but the uniform-regulation from May 1925 for the "Gruppe Reinhard", existing within the Stahlhelm-organization from the district Greater-Berlin their cap was noted to be according the old visored field-cap in grey-green with a black visor and black cap band. The cap had three white pipings.

A visored cap in the same style was introduced November 9, 1939 a meant for SA at the Führerhauptquartier. This type of cap had the same structures. Above the visor a leather chin-strap was worn.

I am not sure whether this cap had a chin strap or not. and it is a very dark green.
