Two more silesian eagles..good?

Hi,

I would like to buy these two Silesian Eagles, one 1st class, and other 2nd class..

I would like to have your opinions on both.Shall I go for it?

I agree with Don; they do look very new...

Not an expert so wait for better opinions but the fact that the black "enamel" is not flush/even with the metal detail (particularly evident on the second class) is not a good sign. This type repro (always with same identical eagle detail) is also available in screwback form. From what I understand, originals were made using real enamel which was cooked at high temp and then buffed to a flat surface which is a fairly elaborate process. Modern repros use a black epoxy based paint to fill in the background which shrinks when it dries/cures resulting in the "enamel" not being flush with the silvered detail.

Attached are angled pictures of a matched 1st & second class set to show what I mean. Its from a different die of course but you can see how even the silver detail is with the black enamel (notwithstanding the odd imperfection & enamel chip here & there)

Both fake.

Besides the cold acrylic enamel that has obviously been used, the tell-tale detail on these is the eye, with the double line of silver on the left. Originals never had this. The eye had a dot in the middle on originals and a single line, as shown in the real one posted below.

I beleive the original version of the 2 repros you posted would look like the second class with swords I attached below. In addition to the different enamel quality, notice how different the eye of the eagle is as Bolewts58 pointed out in his post.

Here is a good one...first class...
