Avaloff Cross - what are the chances?

What are the chances? I think pretty slim to none.

Comes with an expertise certificate that mis-identifies it as a 'von Randow Avaloff Cross'. It's an Avaloff Cross. But, not related to von Randow.

It looks like another one of the common fakes to me. But, there's a slight chance I'm wrong.

I'm no expert in these crosses, but my first impression is no. No chance. I see no big differences to other known fakes.

Let us hear what other collectors say.

      That is my opinion too.

      Kind regards, Peter

I think the last one I had any confidence in, was at a military show in 1978.

Then again, Ernst Blass had it, so it was probably suspect, as well, even way back then.

Is that a Staegemaier COA? If so, that says it all.

Actually, the seller has been careful to cover up the name of the "expert".

Probably for good reason. The "Hero" has started to branch out into Imperial fakes over the past couple of years.

                  Hi,

I agree this cross is a fake, originals are much nicer.
I have only been able to see one original cross, that was at the beginning of the 1990's it belonged to a serious old French collector (who was a close friend to Pachkow), since then it has been sold to someone (not me unfortunately) and I have never been able to see another original one.

                  Cheers

                  Bill

I don't know how you can make a statement on the enamel based on this photo. I've actually had one of these fakes in hand and they are glass enamel.
