Original issue piece, c. 1920. But, it's in pretty ratty condition. I think you could find one a little less "salty". The stickpin is not in good condition, is damaged and repaired. But, it's original too, but likely later (1930s).

But it is always better to have originals in bad condition, than fakes in mint condition.

The badge isn't that bad, just bad photos I suspect. So is there a reason thorston changed his user name and got recognized?. I also don't believe the badges condition opinion of not being very nice is very accurate. Worn and used badges just have more character and was downplayed to get a better price I suspect. IMO This badge should have received full value not reduced as I think it is very nice as is.
