    What is this, exactly?

Here's something that I picked up yesterday at our local show. It is some type of badge for the Freikorps von Diebitsch unit. I thought it would complement my Star of Malplaquet quite nicely. I can't figure out whether it is a cap badge or some type of horse equipment badge.

It measures 60mm tall by 70mm wide and has four prongs for attachment. It matches the obverse of the medal for 'Good Horse Maintenance' issued by this particular detachment.

    Opinions? Thanks!

Sorry for the looong load time.

That's the sleeve insignia of the von Diebitsch unit, #202 in my book. Don't have one in my collection, so please put me first in line in the unlikely event you ever turn loose of it.

Well thanks very much, Mr. Verkuilen!

I must admit that the thought that it was a sleeve badge did cross my mind, but the dimensions of the dang thing are much bigger than most sleeve insignia that I have seen.

You don't happen to have a picture of this item in wear that you could post, do you? It would be neat to see....
