    Photo of Sturmabteilung Henz.

Photo of Berliner Zeitfreiwilligenkorps during the Kapp Putsch which is often attributed to the Ehrhardt Brigade because Berliner Zeitfreiwilligen were under the brigade's command.

Both pics are from Enst von Solomon's 1937 book on the Freikorps.

I tried to tell you guys you can't trust period pictures. The same picture is in HISTORY OF THE GERMAN HELMET By Baer but the swastika on the machine gun unit are reversed. Thanks for the help on the helmet,it may not be this or it may not be that but I see nothing that says it is not an original helmet with a swaz from the period.

I cited Ernst von Solomon, Das Buch Der Freikorpskämpfer, 1937 because it is the original chronicle of the Freikorps with images from the state archives and the "go to" source from which all subsequent references derive their information.

von Solomon was a Freikorps member and witness to the Freikorps. The contributors to his book were all the major Freikorps players, including Ehrhardt. I scanned the pictures directly from an original first edition.

However, you dismiss my citation with a book written in 1985 which likely sourced its information from original period writers like von Solomon.

I think it could be a helmet with a period swastika. But, I am positive it's not Ehrhardt Brigade, which was all I was saying in this discussion.

You obviously don't want to hear anything that doesn't agree with your pre-conceived ideas. So, why did you bother asking?

I named 3 books not one. Also the WWW is full of pictures that say these style of hemets were worn buy Ehrhardt units. At the end of the discussion I said it may not be a Ehrhardt helmet. So who is the person sticking to preconcieved notions?. It is you.If most information is derived from the book you mention why does everybody have it wrong?

Thanks for showing the picture of the gunners and the four helmets none of which are identically painted and also wearing specialist badges.
That's basically my point together adding in the turbulent times.

Great to see pictures of the initial helmet posted, thanks for showing very interesting.

You mentioned 3 books, but showed no hard evidence. So far, it's been a lot of talk and nothing else. I'm only interested in empirical evidence. You provided none. I have attempted, albeit not comprehensibly to provide hard evidence. Given more time and inclination, I could provide more.

I'm completely willing to change my mind if you can prove what you are saying with photographic evidence, as well as who the sources are from which the authors of the 3 books derived their information.

My few images came from the recognized contemporary source for most Freikorps information which itself used official German archive information and images.

I would just like to see some level of scholarly research if you're going to make declarative statements about the helmet in question.

                Hi,

Ernst Von Salomon is clearly one of the most famous sources about the Freikorps. Many other testimonies were published, but photos are quite scare to say the least.
The swastika on your helmet seems to look different to the ones used in units under the command of Brigade Ehrhardt. And most of the pictures of the Kapp putsch show members of the Brigade without swastika on their helmets.

Bolewts58, did you read the reprint of the book of Rudolf Mann "Mit Ehrhardt durch Deutschland" ? The Uwe Berg releases are very interesting (i didn't bought it yet).
I don't know if the original is easy to find or not (probably not).

Do you have any source for the helmet ? At least the location of the find ?
They were so many Freikorps in those days...

                See You
