    Der Stahlhelm 1932 pin question

I'll try it here...was wondering what the thoughts were on this pin..Back looks a bit different and the pin looks long. Also, if I may ask, what is a fair price to pay for these? Thanks Mike

okay, I'll try this. Should this have engraved numbers on the reverse?

Mike, Mine is engraved as most I have seen were. I will try and post a picture of it later this week.

Only if it's been issued. It's not so uncommon to come across unissued badges without any engraving.

Agree. What makes me nervious on this one is a strange pin, have not seen it before.
But basically a good badge, made from alpacca (see big A stamped on reverse).

Sometimes the pin can extend, but no more then about 0.5 cm. It is possible the pin is renewed, as it looks to me a more "modern" pin.

What makes me even more nervous is the STH-marking (Der Stahlhof). I have checked about 75 photographs of badges available in my files and none of them has this weird form of STH lettering. I can't remember ever having seen it (I have checked about 140 of these badges some years ago at a German collector).
I know the badge was made anyway by Hofstätter from Bonn after 1951. These badges never had the engraved indication. It was said the old dies were used, but when I see the STH lettering I cannot believe that.
The A indeed stands for Alpaca,

Looks to me like a genuine badge with an improvised pin, possibly catch as well.
[I have a 1932 in hand, STH is identical, has a 935 mark instead of the A]
