The Steuben Society was established in May, 1919 and I think based in upper New York state.

        Here's a link I found:
        http://www.steubensociety.org/

From what I know, the medal is likely for scholastic achievement and/or fostering good citizenship among the German-American community.

kewel, must have been in the german american club . Von stuben was a revolutionary war officer who fought for the US, prior to independence, a hession i believe. What will we see here next? Bet your the only one with that medal on the forum. Where did you come across that one ? I like the RW&B ribbon...looks like it matches, but the only thing i cant figure out is why it has the appearance of a fob?(the way the top looks) Still different. Could someone have mounted it post war, say instead of the hindenberg medal . Does anyone else know anything about it ? Thanks for showing. I found a wierd 100th year or 150th year anniversary curraisseur german medal a while back, never seen one worn anywhere either.
