    Help with identification

I asked about this item in the Imperial forum.

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=556069

I got this star badge recently and am trying to identify it.

I have found two identifications online: one saying that it's a Braunschweig Freikorps badge and the other saying it's the Hannover Legion commemorative badge. I doubt the Freikorps connection. However, I'm not sure about the Hannover Legion identification, either.

It is quite beautifully made with a high-quality needle pin and block hinge. The lion in the centre has beautiful fire-gilding that doesn't really show well in the picture.

I would very much appreciate any help on this.

I've now got 2 of these, one with a vertical pin and the other horizontal.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

I tend to go with the ID as the Commemorative Badge of the Hanover Legion, 1st Hannover, 74th Infantry Regt. as it supposedly relates back to the Hanover Legion as part of the British Army in the Napoleonic Wars.

I was just hoping that someone knew for sure.

Try the "Hougomont Project" on Facebook. there are LOADS of Kings German legion chaps there-many of whom are descended from KGL men and know everything there is to know about the unit-officers' horses' names, boot size, pattern of shako worn at Waterloo...they will know.
