Strange Patch

I picked up a strange patch in a vet buyup.

Its oval with a skull and crossbones in silver/darkwhite thread, It has no glow and has German Newspaper glued on the rear. I was thinking friecorps or some other middle german organisation.

Its more like a Jolly Roger skull and crossbones than a totenkopf. Sorry scanner is on blink and no camera. i have been unable to find a picture on the Net to compare it to.

Anyone got any ideas or maybe images?

yeah kinda like that, but it has no border and is black. the actual skull and bones look embriodered (you can see the thickish threads).

The badge I posted belongs to another member.

I think it must be Freikorps. It's not like the Kokampf or flammenwerfer skull sleeve patches, which were the Prussian style.

I have never seen this on a Freikorps sleeve, but there were so many of these unofficial patches it's difficult to be definitive.

The HJ and DJ also used totenkopf badges of various types as local 'unit' insignia in the early 1930s, so who knows........
