    Freikorps Bahrenfeld 1919 Armband

    Hello,
I've bought this armband from Detlev today, but I have some doubts about it...
This armband there isn not in V.Ager book "Freikorps Insigna" and I heve never seen one worn in any photo.
Please, any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Mario

Weitze has another one here´s what he says:

Ärmelband "Freikorps Bahrenfeld 1919" Traditionsärmelband der Hamburger Polizei, die 1919 in Hamburg-Bahrenfeld gegen die Kommunisten kämpfte. Gewebte Ausführung, volle Länge. Leicht getragen, Zustand 2+

      Translated by Altavista:

Sleeve volume "Freikorps Bahrenfeld 1919" Tradition sleeve volume that Hamburg police, which fought to 1919 in Hamburg Bahrenfeld against the communists. Woven execution, full length. Easily carried, condition 2+

From Detlev's description it appears that this cufftitle (i.e rather than an armband per se) would have been worn by Police unit(s) post-1919 to indicate prior service with the Freikorps Bahrenfeld, and not by members of the Freikorps outfit itself.

Other than just clarifying that I'm afraid I really know nothing about this item. It's an interesting piece and I hope other members may be able to shed more light on it.

        Cheers!

I think Adam has probably summarized things pretty clearly. This item wasn't known to von Salomon, the use of the date is typical of numerous retrospective items from later on, and this type of loom-woven construction is atypical for the immediate postwar period.
