    Unknown skull badge!

A jawless cap skull on a black patch. We know that jawless skulls were used since Imperial times by Leibhusaren, later Freikorps, Wehrwolf, SS, Wehrmacht cavalry etc.

I think this piece is from the time after ww1. Perhaps Freikorps?

    Thoughts?

Found a similar one! It shows, that such pieces were used.

This is another unknown item. I heard it was confirmed, that it was made pre 1945. But what is it? Freikorps related pin? From another organization? Veterans of the Eiserne Division?

I have seen 2 or 3 during last years. Always with the description Freikorps....

Sometimes buckles with the same skull design appear in auctions. In most cases with the description "Freikorps buckles".

I have never heard, that a Freikorps had a special buckle. I don't know, who used such buckles. I have no idea, if really such original buckles were made, or if all of those buckles are only fakes?

With regard to post no. 4, indeed the same circular pin depicting a jaw less "deaths head" which appears sometimes on a highly suspect and more than likely, fantasy buckle. The buckle some years appeared on a regular basis within eBay.de and now, is seldom seen for sale. Examples were obvious fakes by the type of brass box used, however attached are images of a more "convincing" example.

I had assumed that the circular pin, as per the buckle as a whole, were fakes.

            Regards,

            David

                  Perhaps both are fakes.

Another possibility is, they used the skull design of the pin for making such fake buckles. Who knows....
