Cufftitles and armbands!

After ww1 it was the "big time" of the cufftitles and armbands. It started with the Freikorps and was continued by many new founded organizations and parties in the Weimarer Republik. Some of those cufftitles and armbands were very rare and some are still unknown until today.

Let us show some cufftitles and armbands from the period 1918-1933!

Here is a couple of mine....nothing exotic,

1/ Reichsheer armband (love to see it being worn)

and

2/ Gibraltar cuffband that continued to be worn after WW1

The Freikorps Bahrenfeld cufftitle.

A kind of tradition cufftitle, which was later worn in memory of the fights against the communists in 1919.

Der Wehrwolf! Bund deutscher Männer und Frontkrieger.

Most collectors, who don't know the Wehrwolf, think it was a Freikorps. They see the early fieldgrey uniforms and the skull and they think: No doubt, it must be a Freikorps. But it is a missunderstanding. The Wehrwolf (1923-1933) was a so called Wehrverband similar like "Der Stahlhelm".

If the Wehrwolf member had a special military sports training, he had "Rangsterne" on his armband. One for the normal training and two for a military sports training under harder requirements.

Schwarze Brigade cuffttile

This cufftitle was one of the surprises in the life of a collector! I bought a photo album with this cufftitle on the cover 2 years ago. I had no idea what it was. A few months later I found a photo with the cufftitle and the answer in a book. It was a cufftile of a Wehrwolf group in Saxony, which left the Wehrwolf because they were loyal to the NSDAP. The group had not more than 300 members and existed only 3 months in 1933, before they came under the command of the SA. Notice, the removed their Wehrwolf armbands and they wore a swastika armband and the the cufftitle "Schwarze Brigade".
