    Freikorps or not ?

I got this photo today, I haven't seen the cuff-title before I examined it closely at home.
On the back it is located and dated " Lyck (Eastern Prussia) 1920"
For me the cuff-title reads something with " Sicherheits-..." ??

    Any ideas ?

    Cuff-title:

The shoulder-boards look like police or forestry.

    Kind regards
    Robert

      cuff title

      Hi Robert,
I had a nice photograph of a police officer with Baltenkreuz wearing a "Sicherheitspolizei" cufftitle years ago. I think it will be the cuff title worn on your picture. I was fool enough to trade it. I was very ignorant, unfortunately little has changed...

Yes, I think it is the short-lived "SiPo" too-- renamed SchuPo. The strange "Oberst" style boards are probably senior NCO-- I've never seen those before.

He is holding a Prussian IOD89 sword with officers' Portepee, as worn by ranks from senior sergeant up.

The 1919-20 SiPo was NOT the same as the Third Reich SD-SiPo, but rather a first attempt at "Ordnungspolizei." The WW1 Allied Armistice Commission decided they were "Black Reichsheer" and insisted on changes of organization, leading to the dark green uniformed Schutzpolizei.
