Ahhh, so it's a naval Observer Badge!

The REALLY interesting thing is his ARMY wound badge, indicating Freikorps service, almost certainly.

He's a bit long in the tooth for a Leutnant zur See... I sure hope there's a NAME on this guy!!!!!

Stogie--great photo--see where Adolf got his mustache. Rick L. Why would the wound badge make him Freikorps? Should it be a navel wound badge. If what you say is correct then this is a post WWI photo. Right?? Mike

              Nice photo.
My guess is 1927-31 by the hem line.
              Cheers,

p.s. I've seen a number of army wound badges on navy men in Weimar photographs; makes you wonder how "common" the navy badges really were.
Could you wear the naval badge post 1935?
By the way in a complete non sequiter...... did navy men get the 1871 campaign medal? if so, noncom medal on combat bar or...?
              Cheers again....

Damn! Great photo Eric! If that photo is 1927-31. Then he had to be 10 when flying as a Naval observer! I like his Mütze. I need to learn--tell me how you dated this photo! Thanks, Mike
