I concur that the leaf part of the cockade definitely is of DDR origin. I too have never seen evidence of this cockade in actual use.

            Hi,
I have a DRK Feldmutze with a similar badge on the front. The oak wreath is in white embroidery but the cross is in red enamel. The appearance of the badge, therefore is the same as yours. it's all on an oval badge sewn to the front of the feldmutze. The feldmutze is all a powder/ mid blue colour and is unpiped.
            Cheers,
            Tim

Did they have their own belt buckle?

No, as far as I know, they didnĀ“t have a specially belt buckle. They use the same as NVA (leather belt or field belt).

Thanks. Do you know if the Navy had a gold buckle?

Surely I only know that from the "Feldbinde" by sea-officers. Its buckle was gold coloured.
The leather belt of the shipmen/petty officers was with the silver colour...
And the belt with the fighting-uniform was grey woven with grey buckle like LaSK.
BTW: if the soldier was a "great fighter", he polished the grey colour from the buckle (by lots of field trainings or mastering the fighting concourse-"Sturmbahn") and get the nice golden shine from the naked buckle...

Vielen dank. This departs from BW practice for the Navy Mannschaft to have a gold buckle like the KM.

Were some Kampfgruppe buckles also gold-color? One was reported like that here. Is there an earlier KG buckle, before the gray nylon belt was issued?

These buckles are steel but appear to be brass-anodized to protect from rust before being painted.
