Yes, it is an LSK female hat...the ones I remember all had the metal wings...so, I guess this will be an early one..but I am sure that somebody else here will be able to tell you the exact dates of introduction... Cheers, Torsten (ebay id german.militaria).

PS: I recently sold two of these hats with metal wings on ebay and I got about US$20 each for them...

      Hi Torsten

..and I just sold a LaSK with the changed BRD corkade for about 9EUR

But if this hat will be really a old one, then it will of course, find a place in my Collection
It looks like an early one, because of the stiched on wings.
But I'm wondering if women already served in the NVA that early?? ..that makes the hat questionably for me..

      cheers

just found this pic from another thread of this forum..that convinces me that early type of female hats really existed and therefor women already served in the NVA probably from the beginning.. right??

        cheers

The bullion LSK insignia with Staatswappen that is on the hat about which this thread was initiated, was used between 1961 and 1965. Presumably, as with most DDR Military clothing apparel, there would be some overlap after 1965.

There is nothing wrong with that, these 'horseshoe' hats were if I remember correctly introduced in 1962-63, unfortunately most of the ones I've seen don't have dates in. They don't really command much money. BUT... the embroided Airforce badge is nice and that on its own would command good money, they were used officially between 1962-65, but in practice were worn through to the mid 70's,
So I'd say that's a nice original female hat ( you'd have to be nuts to put one of those badges on a crappy quality hat otherwise!!!) value, your basically paying for the badge say 45-55 euro...ish!
